"In civilizations without boats, dreams dry up, espionage replaces adventure, and the police the pirates." (michel foucault)
The Mediterranean, only in this world of behind the mirror, the land is the sea. You are getting closer to the port, you see the lights reflected on the water, you hear the sound of the port city. This is the moment of arrival, of knocking on the door, the threshold between water and land, between dreams and reality.
The pass-port.
Will you manage to cross?
Will you manage to find a living space, away from wars, walls, oppression, poverty?
In the old Jewish myth, the human society functioned so badly that God filled the land with water to destroy it. One family of humans and animals roamed upon the big sea on a boat, searching for a peace of dry land and an olive tree, to restart life there.
We are traveling, wandering, migrating. Looking for a piece of dry land.
Africa, Asia, Europe, and in the middle this big body of water, separating and mediating.
Can we imagine a land open and borderless like the sea?
Sound work made out of sounds I recorded in different port cities of northern Mediterranean.

Dedicated to all people immigrating across the Mediterranean sea.
