The residency project formed around the ongoing concept Rudera is working with: Electropagan Rituals. It consists of collective and spacetime-specific practices, exploring a speculative spirituality that aims to free the mind from the values of capitalist society based on patriarchal religions.
For this specific project, I was inspired by the essence of the Temple: a space as a generator of energy. The Temple hosts community rituals, elevate the spirit, facilitate active listening and meditation.
During the residency, I was exploring ruderal medicinal plants and the feminine spirituality of Mother Earth, as means for personal and collective healing and liberation.
Weaving red threads, creating fabrics with screen printing and paintings, working with voice and sound, video and light, a bit by bit the temple was taking form.
The first collective ritual in it took place at summer solstice, 21.6.23, with a group of women celebrating together.
It was followed by the BilbaoArte Open Doors days, at the 26 - 30 of June.
The Moon Temple was later presented at "Chicharra - international festival of sound art" at Almonte, Spain, 15-17.9.23.
